Available Marching Band Leadership Positions:

DRUM MAJOR

Be an exemplary example of professionalism, class, and discipline. Help conduct all Leadership meetings at the Director's request. Responsible for conducting the musicians during rehearsals and performances. This means encouraging the band to stay engaged in rehearsal, and holding the band accountable for having what they need for rehearsal. Delegate appropriate responsibilities to leadership members, providing any necessary guidance and support. Responsible for making sure section leaders have their music and visual responsibilities mastered. Responsible for relaying relevant information to the Band Program and mediating information between the Band and Director. Responsible for helping to maintain a positive and respectful band experience in and out of rehearsal. The Drum Major will report to Mr. K if there is any concern that cannot be handled by leadership. Drum Majors will also serve as the Pep Band directors during Basketball season. This is a year long position.

DRUM CAPTAIN

Be an exemplary example of professionalism, class, and discipline. Responsible for making sure section leaders have their music and visual responsibilities mastered. Responsible for making sure their section leaders have everything they need to be successful in rehearsal. Responsible for supporting the drum majors and upholding their requests. Responsible for running big group sectionals. May assist Staff with auditions throughout the different seasons and recruiting. Are in charge of running the individual instagram accounts for their section. This is who the section leaders report to if there are any concerns. These are year-long positions.

GUARD CAPTAIN

Be an exemplary example of professionalism, class, and discipline. Responsible for making sure section has their technical and visual responsibilities mastered. Responsible for making sure their section has everything they need to be successful in rehearsal. Responsible for supporting the drum majors and upholding their requests. Responsible for running full-band stretches. May assist Staff with auditions throughout the different seasons and recruiting. Are in charge of running the individual instagram account for their section. This is who the section reports to if there are any concerns. This is a year-long position.


Section leader

Be an exemplary example of professionalism, class, and discipline. Responsible for making sure their section (woodwind, brass, pit, battery) has their music andvisual responsibilities mastered. This means assisting and coaching where needed to make the entire section successful. This also means running sectionals. Responsible for having their music memorized and passed off early. Responsible for making sure their section has everything they need to be successful in rehearsal. Responsible for scheduling regular sectionals. Responsible for making sure no one in their section is left behind! This is who the members of the section report to if there are any concerns.

President

Be an exemplary example of professionalism, class, and discipline. Help conduct all Band Council meetings at the Director's request. May be responsible for conducting the musicians (during warm ups, in the case of the band directors absence) and supporting the Band Director. This meansencouraging the band to stay engaged in rehearsal, and holding the band accountable for having what they need for rehearsal. Delegate appropriate responsibilities to officers and band members, providing any necessary guidance and support. In charge of the maintaining the Band's image in the school and community. Will serve as the primary liason between the director and Band, the Band and the School, and the Band and Community. Responsible for helping to maintain a positive and respectful band experience in andout of rehearsal. Responsible for organizing concert flow and stage crew. The President will report to Mr. K if there is any concern that cannot be handled by leadership. This is a year long position.

EXECUTIVE OFFICER (XO)

Be an exemplary example of professionalism, class, and discipline. Maintains written record of all officer meetings. Is responsible for maintaining ongoing accounts and After-Action-Reports for all band related events. Manages and delegates appropriate tasks and responsibilities among fellow officers. Oversees and ensures necessary measures are taken to accomplish necessary tasks in an efficient and effective manner. In other words: The person who makes sure things get done in our program! This is a year long position.

ADMINISTRATION OFFICER

Be an exemplary example of professionalism, class, and discipline. Manages and maintains paper and digital records of band personnel, band documents (such as paperwork for Solo & Ensemble, Festivals, Weekly Pass-offs, etc.), and reference material for band use. Will serve as an administrative assistant to the Director and Performing Arts Secretary (Mom Moulton). Individuals applying for this position are encouraged to take interest in organization! This is a year long position.

Assets OFFICER

Be an exemplary example of professionalism, class, and discipline. Maintains responsibility and record of all equipment in conjunction with the Logistics Officer. Maintains organization and accurate record of the music library. Organizes and tracks distribution of music and instruments to individuals throughout the band program. This is a year long position.

logistics OFFICER

Be an exemplary example of professionalism, class, and discipline. Plans, organizes, and executes all logistical elements within the band program, including but not limited to: Concert Logistics, Equipment Transportation, Large Equipment Maintenance, Travel Logistics (tour and travel), and audience flow. This position will organize the answer to HOW anything works in our program. Is responsible for maintaining facilities used by the band program. This is a year long position.

communications OFFICER

Be an exemplary example of professionalism, class, and discipline. Manages all internal and external communications among the band program. Works closely with the Band President and Director to ensure all communications are available and accessible. Oversees social media for the Band Program. Manages Band Website and Newsletter. Plans and organizes Band Events and Socials. Responsible for maintaining a positive and supportive environment for Band Students. The Hype Leader. Maintains the Band Quote Book. Primary liaison between band officers and Members-at-large to organize efficient execution of tasks and events. Primary liaison between band program and other performing arts programs in the school, district, and region. This is a year long position.

jazz sultan

Be an exemplary example of professionalism, class, and discipline. Assists fellow band officers with communicating and representing the Jazz Program. Assists in organizing jazz-based events in cojunction with appropriate officers, including but not limited to: Grizzly Groove & Move, Jazz Tour, and the Valen-Tunes Dance Social. Advocates for the jazz program in the school and community and seeks performance opportunities for the ensembles. Responsible for maintaining Jazz Platforms, Stands, and the Jazz Bible. This is a year long position. This Position may be served in addition to another officer position.

guard guru

Be an exemplary example of professionalism, class, and discipline. Advocates for inclusion, recognition, recruiting, and the needs of the Color Guard Program at CHHS. Serves as the primary liaison between the Officers, Directors, and Color Guard. In collaboration with fellow officers, organizes events such as (but not limited to) Friends and Family Night for Winter Guard and Percussion. This is a year long position.

MEMBER-AT-LARGE

A self-elected, non-interviewed role for any band member interested in helping make the program better! Members-at-large will be called upon by leadership to assist in making things happen. This is a fantastic opportunity to earn community service hours, get to know your bandmates better, and be a positive influence on our program. Members-at-large may sign up at any time by contacting the Communications Officer once announced. This is an at-will position.
