Leadership workshops and interviews will take place April 21-24.
Workshops will be each morning from 6:30-7:15 AM in the Band Room Each Day for ALL POSITIONS.Â
Conducting Workshops will be from 2:45-3:30 PM each day for MARCHING LEADERSHIP CANDIDATES ONLY.
Attendance at each workshop is mandatory for consideration of candidacy.
How to Apply:

3) Complete the LEADERSHIP and/or the OFFICER applications (click either for link). DUE APRIL 17th!
4) Have 2 Letters of Recommendation Completed (see instructions within) and to Mr. K by APRIL 17th.
*Note: Print the application, sign it in ink, then submit to the basket by the date listed. You will need to provide 2 envelopes for your Letters of Recommendation. See Mr. K if you need some.

*Note: Only sign up for ONE interview slot. If applying for both leadership and an officer position, select a section leader slot and note your preference in the comments. If ONLY applying for an officer position, select an Officer Interview.
6) Attend Workshops April 21-24 from 6:30 to 7:15 AM (ALL LEADERSHIP AND OFFICER POSITIONS).

A copy of Jon Gordon's Soup (4 Copies available in the Media Center) (Consider reading this before workshops, but plan to read it through the week)
7) If applying for MARCHING BAND LEADERSHIP, ALSO attend Conducting Workshops from 2:45 to 3:30 PM.
CONDUCTING REQUIREMENTS (By the end of the week- Necessary for all candidates for Leadership)
Conduct a 1, 2, 3, and 4 pattern at the following metronome markings:
60 BPM
80 BPM
100 BPM
120 BPM
160 BPM
Conduct to this recording of the Star Spangled Banner demonstrating: A clear 3 pattern in time, different styles of articulation (Tenuto, Legato, and Marcato), appropriate cues for percussion, and cutoffs.
Conduct to this recording of Handclap demonstrating: A clear 4 pattern in time, appropriate cueing for entrances, different styles of articulation, and a proper cutoff on beat 2.
8) Complete your interview.
The interview will last approximately 10 minutes and will address topics including:
Your vision of the program
How you will lead the program to reach its and your goals
MARCHING LEADERSHIP KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Memorize the 11 Principles of Leadership in order
Memorize the definition of Leadership
"Influencing others to accomplish a mission or task by providing Purpose, Motivation, and Direction."
Definition of intestinal fortitude
General knowledge about our field show and its musical selections (do some research)
After workshops and interviews are completed, Drum Major nominees will be notified April 30th. Drum Major Nominees may accept their nomination and proceed to the 2nd round of interviews or concede within 24 hours of notice. The 2nd round of interviews to determine Drum Majors will take place on Wedensday, April 30th from 3:30-5:30 PM.
All positions will be announced at the Band Banquet on May 19th.
Those selected for Leadership and Officer Positions will participate in Leadership CAMP, taking place JUNE 20-21 from. Anticipate an approximate $60 fee for activities over the training weekend.
