Leadership

Leadership workshops and interviews will take place April 22-25.

Workshops will be each morning from 6:00-7:00 AM in the Band Room Each Day for ALL POSITIONS. 

Conducting Workshops will be from 2:45-3:30 PM each day for MARCHING LEADERSHIP CANDIDATES ONLY.

Attendance at each workshop is mandatory for consideration of candidacy.

*Note: What was known as our "Band Council" is changing to "Band Officers" for the 2024-25 School year. Fewer Officer positions are available than before with more responsibilities, but it doesn't necessarily mean more work. The introduction of the "Member-at-Large" positions is aimed to spread duties around the whole band and involve more students.

3) Complete the LEADERSHIP and/or the OFFICER applications (click either for link). DUE APRIL 11th!

*Note: Type your responses on the fillable PDF. Print the application, sign it in ink, then submit to the basket by the date listed. You will need to provide 2 envelopes for your Letters of Recommendation. See Mr. K if you need some.

4) Click Here to Sign Up for an Interview Time.

*Note: Only sign up for ONE interview slot. If applying for both leadership and an officer position, select a section leader slot and note your preference in the comments. If ONLY applying for an officer position, select an Officer Interview.

5) Attend Workshops April 22-25 from 6:00 to 7:00 AM (ALL LEADERSHIP AND OFFICER POSITIONS).

6) If applying for MARCHING BAND LEADERSHIP, ALSO attend Conducting Workshops from 2:45 to 3:30 PM.

CONDUCTING REQUIREMENTS (By the end of the week- Necessary for all candidates for Leadership)

7) Complete your interview.

The interview will last approximately 10 minutes and will address topics including:

MARCHING LEADERSHIP KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

"Influencing others to accomplish a mission or task by providing Purpose, Motivation, and Direction."

After workshops and interviews are completed, Drum Major nominees will be notified April 29th. Drum Major Nominees may accept their nomination and proceed to the 2nd round of interviews or concede within 24 hours of notice. The 2nd round of interviews to determine Drum Majors will take place from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 4th.

All positions will be announced at the Band Banquet on May 28th.

Those selected for Leadership and Officer Positions will participate in Leadership CAMP June 14-15 from 8:00 AM to approximately 3:00 PM Friday and 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Saturday. Anticipate an approximate $60 fee for activities over the training weekend.
