Audition Requirements
CURRENT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS (Grades 10-11)
Completed Application (Click here.)
Chromatic Scale
Play the full range of the instrument (as much of the range as you can) slurring up the scale, and staccato down. Pay close attention to tone quality and steady tempo.
An easy way to do this is to start on a comfortable concert F in the middle of your range, then slur up as far as you can go, then turn around and go back down, going as low as you can go, tonguing each note.
Prepared Etude (Click here to access the etudes.)
Use only etude 3E for your instrument. Play at the marked tempo and go as far as you can play with excellent tone, correct notes, rhythms, and articulations. The whole etude must be performed at the audition.
Be sure that you practice with a metronome!
Remember, auditions are about what you can do, not what you can't. Play what makes you sound the best!
If you have any questions, please email Mr. Kuhlemeier at chris.kuhlemeier@jordandistrict.org.
